EXCEL NETWORK

A comprehensive resource for career preparation, the Excel Network, located within the College of Arts & Letters, offers everything needed to chart the path toward a successful and fulfilling career. Through networking, advising, experiential learning, and more, it takes a holistic approach to help individuals navigate their journey and find the path that's right for them. I've been working with the Excel Network since May 2022, where I've taken on a wide variety of tasks.

I've managed our social media accounts by creating a monthly content calendar, designing engaging visuals, and actively promoting our accounts. I've designed newsletters and flyers using InDesign and Canva, sharing them with over 2,000 undergraduate students and partners through Campaign Monitor and social media to promote university events and career opportunities. I've created and edited multiple educational and entertaining videos about student experiences, boosting our post engagement by 400%. I've updated the Excel Network website using WordPress and Elementor to ensure accurate resource sharing, and tracked engagement data in Excel to analyze communication strengths and weaknesses.

Basically, I've had the opportunity to do it all and then some. Working with the Excel Network has provided me with invaluable experience, taught me crucial lessons, and shown me how to thrive in a professional environment. For all of that, I am truly grateful.

PROMOTIONAL FLYERS

Since joining the Excel Network, I've had the opportunity to create a wide variety of graphics for different purposes. From promotional materials for informational sessions and informational flyers about our company to resources for career strategy classes, I’ve designed it all. Whether intended for digital or physical distribution across campus, I've crafted numerous promotional graphics to support our initiatives.

SOCIAL MEDIA GRAPHICS

Along with designing numerous flyers, I’ve also dedicated a significant amount of time to strengthening our social media presence. A key aspect of the Excel Network is promoting internship and career opportunities, and to streamline this, I’ve created customizable templates that can be tailored to different types of job postings.

CREATIVE EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS

My latest endeavor involves creating entertaining yet informative videos for the Excel Network’s Instagram, as well as sharing them across social media and email to promote, engage, and inform. While the process has been both challenging and rewarding, it has taught me valuable lessons about content creation and how to effectively engage an audience.

The first video I created for the Excel Network, which sparked my passion for content creation, is an informational piece designed for a career strategy class to encourage students to attend career fairs.

My latest video is perhaps my favorite, though it carries a bittersweet note. It’s an advertisement for my own job position, as I’ll be graduating soon. Despite a quick turnaround time, I’m proud of how this video turned out.

I had lots of fun filming this "Featured Intern" video with my former coworker Kayla, who graduated from MSU. We even got a cameo from our then dean at the time, who was a great sport with our filming.
